ROY

These are crystals of ROY (so named for its ability to crystallize in red, orange, or yellow forms depending on the crystal structure)...

but the dye's actual name is 5-methyl-2-[(2-nitrophenyl)amino]-3-thiophenecarbonitrile.

My friend Liana has been working with crystals and this dying technique for awhile now
and she has always mentioned how beautiful the photographs turn out.

So I finally got her to email me some photos.
If you are interested in the high resolution files for any reason, let me know!
